Pictures taken down

Dec. 5th, 2011 | 04:21 am

My sleezeball ex took down the pictures he was selling on DeviantART. He tried telling me that he had put the pictures up so he could make a few prints for personal use.

66 pics.
$19.99 per pic.
All pics were up for at least a year

Yup. Totally for a few prints for personal use. Not.
Whatever. I got the pics taken down which is what I really wanted.

Star Wars: The Old Republic in 10 days!!!

Here is my review for it that I wrote for my blog on SuicideGirls:

I have been trying to find another MMO to replace World of Warcraft as I recently gave up on World of Warcraft. I had been playing since The Burning Crusades thanks to my mother since she had been obsessed with it since Vanilla. Towards the end, I was growing disdainfully bored of leveling up another toon just to grind for gear, gear, and more gear. More importantly, I grew tired of the deal with players who thought they were God’s gift to a video game.

When I quit WoW, I looked to fill the void with RIFT but in the end, the gear grinding result was the same. Then came Stars Wars: The Old Republic beta and life as I knew it disappeared into oblivion.

SWTOR is the baby of BioWare, EA, and LucasArts. While not a ground-breaking MMORPG, BioWare is going to be raising the bar.

BioWare has put the RPG back into MMORPG. There are four classes on the Republic and the Empire side. Each class has their own unique storyline that will take you from level 1 to 50. Every single quest is voice acted. No more quickly reading the quest description, clicking accept, and trotting off mindlessly to fill an objective. Unlike other MMORPGs, after accepting a quest, you may actually find yourself being attached to your quest giver. That’s how well Bioware has fleshed out the backstory of each quest. This alone draws you into the world. I have learned more about the universe of SWTOR in the past month I have been playing beta than I had ever learned about WoW lore in the 6-7 yrs I played.

The UI is similar to every MMORPG. You have your one action bar on the bottom with your profile picture attached to it. Party goes on the bottom left side. Chat is on the top right side of the screen. You can add one more bar on the bottom and one bar on the left and right side of the screen. The biggest drawback about this UI is the limited amount of action bars you could add. You can also change your party frames to raid frames. You can unlock raid frames and move them around. This is beneficial for healers. While the UI is very limited on customization, it is very simple and out of the way. The UI is done in a way to where it really doesn’t need customization, if you’re like me and don’t care about that short of thing.

Another feature I loved was how dead mobs glowed referencing the kind of loot the mob had. For example, if a light blue beam was coming out of the body it meant just credits (money) and vendor items. If the beam was green, it contained either green quality loot or the planet’s commendation badge. A golden beam signaled your quest item. A darker blue beam meant a blue quality item. And then you have your purple and orange beams. You knew exactly what kind of loot awaited you before you looted the mob.

Another innovation SWTOR introduces is the way quests are organized. No running back and forth from quest giver to quest area. You get your quest to say, for example, kill some people for some technology. As soon as you killed a mob, you got a bonus quest to kill x amount of certain mobs in the same area. Once you completed your bonus quest, you either immediately got the quest experience for it or got another bonus quest for that area. Some bonus quests have 3 or 4 parts to it with the last part being killing some elite mob and turning in proof you killed them. Another perk: If you looted more items than you needed for the quest, your quest giver takes ALL the quest items.

When grouping with others, you get rewarded with Social points. Social points are acquired when participating in a quest dialogue with your party and turning in quests with your party. When your group is talking with a quest giver and the dialogue options are given, upon selecting your option, you “roll” for your choice to get played. The person with the highest roll gets their dialogue played and double the social points. How many social points you receive per dialogue options depends on the size of your party. If there are only two people, you get two points per option or four points if your dialogue wins the roll. You are also shown who chose any Light side/Dark Side options. If the majority of the party chooses the Light side option, then the Light side choice is shown. You are NOT penalized with Light side points if you are playing a Dark side character. You will only get your Dark side points.

Group quests are labeled as Heroics. How many people that are needed to complete the Heroic quest is labeled in the name. For example, Heroic 2 means you just need another person. Heroic 2+ means you need at least 2 people. Your companion counts against the group size. Since the party size is limited to four people, once you get a full party, all companions are automatically dismissed. Once the group disbands, you can summon your companion again.

Each class gets their very own companion typically around level 7 or 8, depending on their class questline. Once the companion has officially joined you, you can start earning affection with them. You can get a different skin for them if you don’t like their original look. You can read in the codex about the history of your companion and their likes and dislikes. Knowing their likes and dislikes are extremely helpful when choosing dialogue and Light side/Dark side options. Your actions change how your companion perceives you. You can always bribe them with gifts if you find you are losing too much affection with them.

The companions in battle are pretty smart. If you crowd control a mob, they will ignore that particular mob until it is the last one standing. I have only run into one issue with one of my companions breaking my CC with his AoE later in levels (20+). I had to make sure the mob I CCed was quite a distance away. You can turn off certain abilities of your companion if you don’t like them. I didn’t because I did find his AoE to be useful.

BioWare also added a nice little detail when it came to your companions: you got credit for everything they killed. If you aggroed a group of four mobs and your companion manages to kill two before you were able to even hit them, you still got credit/experience for them. You don’t have to worry about tagging everything in the heat of battle.

I will only be going through the classes and their companions that I played. For more information on the classes I didn’t cover, visit www.swtor.com.

The Empire side has Sith Inquisitor, Sith Warrior, Bounty Hunter, and Imperial Agent. I played all four of them.

Sith Inquisitor:

You start off as a slave shipped to Korriban to learn the ways of the Sith. You are competing with other slaves to win the apprenticeship of Darth Zash.

Sith Inquisitor is a very versatile character. You can go the Assassin (aka Darth Maul) route or you can go the Sorcerer route (aka Emperor Palpatine). Assassins can either be tanks or DPS. Sorcerers can be either healers or ranged DPS.

I mainly played Assassin tank. I absolutely loved wielding the dual-bladed lightsaber. I also loved the fact that even though I was going the tank route, it didn’t take me half an hour to kill a few mobs. Tank DPS may not be as high as a true DPS role but it’s nothing to scoff at, either.

I briefly played Sorcerer. I went the healing route. Healing was very similar to that of a discipline priest in World of Warcraft. At lower levels (before level 20), you can easily heal and dps in quests and flashpoints.

The companion you get is named Khem Val. He is a tank character and is extremely helpful in the lower levels when, no matter your spec, you’re still squishy and you need someone to take the beating. Once you get around level 20 and you can start holding your own, I found that he slowly outlived his usefulness. Around level 25 I got another companion who did DPS so I switched to the DPS companion since I could, at that point, take the beatings.

I did briefly dabble with the Assassin DPS (I had leveled another assassin to around 20). The DPS was nice but you seriously had to make sure you killed your mobs fast or else you found yourself dying a lot.

Khem Val is also a dark-side inclined character so perfect for whenever you want to kill the people who annoyed you (especially if they were also force users). He also liked it when you stood up for yourself and didn’t act like someone’s lackey.

Sith Warrior:

You are sent to Korriban ahead of schedule to get a crash course in Sith training and to prepare to be Darth Baras’ apprentice.

Sith Warriors can go down the path of Juggernaut (tank and DPS) or Marauder (DPS only). I went Marauder. The warrior was the only character I didn’t like because of the way the warrior was built. The warrior class seemed clumsy and I felt that my hits weren’t actually hitting. The only reason I kept playing the warrior (to about level 20 when I got my 2nd companion) was because I was enjoying the storyline.

The companion for the warrior is a Twi’lek slave named Vette. She is a ranged DPS companion since you will be on the frontlines taking most of the damage.

Bounty Hunter:

Your beginning area is Hutta. Your objective is to compete with other Bounty Hunters for a spot in the Great Hunt.

Bounty Hunters are a versatile class that can fill all the roles: tank, DPS, and heals. I went the Powertech tank route since my companion, Mako, was a healer. Mercenaries can either DPS or heal. Powertechs can also DPS.

I was simply blown away with the Bounty Hunter character. I thought this character was going to be very complicated to play from watching the SWTOR videos on the class. Bounty Hunters have so many tricks up their sleeves that I expected I would be overwhelmed, but I found that I loved have the versatility of attacks because each fight I didn’t have to mindlessly go through a rotation.

Another reason I went Powertech tank was because I wanted to check out the ranged tanking concept. Having the Powertech being a ranged tank was perfect for situations where you have to kite a boss or pull aggro from a party member who is across the room. Situations where you would have to chase the boss down are limited. Those situations aren’t completely quelled but being ranged does cut down their occurrence significantly. You can pull aggro from a distance and close the distance with your melee attacks as well.

Your companion, Mako, is a light-sided companion. While she cares about getting paid from hunting people and taking their heads, she doesn’t like it when you kill people just because you can. I ended up getting a lecture from her amounting to “Just because we kill people for money doesn’t give us the right to be evil about it.” I found myself yelling at her “We kill people for MONEY you twat! What do you expect?!” I always questioned whether she should be in bounty hunter business or not.

Imperial Agent:

Your spy games begin in Hutta. You go undercover to convince Nem’ro the Hutt to support the Empire.

Imperial agents can go Sniper (DPS) or Operative Agent (DPS or heals). The I.A. is like a cross between the ranged of a bounty hunter that utilizes the cover of a smuggler. If you go Operative Agent, you’re more like a stabby rogue with heals and other technology at your disposal.

Kaliyo is your companion. The Imperial Agent is the only class I played that I went Light Side and even though Kaliyo is a dark-sided companion, I was surprised that I didn’t lose a whole lot of affection with her when I went Light Side. As long as I didn’t side with the government or kissed ass in front of her, I had her respect. Kaliyo also reminded me what Jack from Mass Effect would have been like if she had dropped her emo issues.

The Republic has Jedi Consular, Jedi Knight, Trooper, and Smuggler. I played a smuggler to level 16 and a trooper to level 20. I tried Jedi, I really tried. But I found them to be too whiny and didn’t like how they were purposely trying to quell their emotions.

You start on Ord Mandell. Your ship has been stolen by a backstabbing asshole and you have to hunt him down to get your ship back.

Smugglers can do ranged dps as a Gunslinger or heal and do melee dps as a Scoundrel. I played a Gunslinger. The Gunslinger played similar to that of a mercenary Bounty Hunter with the cover of a sniping Imperial Agent. The Scoundrel mirrors the Operative Imperial Agent.

The smuggler’s companion is Corso Riggs. He is a tank companion. Corso is very much a farm boy and he does not like women being the victims of any kind of violence. He is a mainly a light-sided character who does approve of some dark-sided choices.

You also start on Ord Mandell. Your military team defects and leaves you to pick up the pieces of your elite squad.

Troopers can tank or do ranged dps as a Vanguard or heal and do ranged dps as a commando. I played a Vanguard tank. The Vanguard tank perfectly mirrors the Powertech Bounty Hunter.

The trooper storyline had me going “What the hell….” I was completely surprised how dark-sided the trooper storyline is. I played a light-sided trooper that was for the people and not so much for the government. The dark-sided options had you killing innocent people just because you had to “follow orders”.

The trooper’s companion is a Cathar named Aric Jorgan. He is a straight-to-the-point-do-what-is-necessary kind of guy.

I only played a few of the dungeons, called flash points. Each flash point was very entertaining. Boss fights required some strategy but they weren’t overly hard to do (stay out of AoE, run away before boss does x attack, etc).

Black Talon is the first flash point you have access to at level 10. It takes place aboard a ship of the same name. The only thing that I didn’t like was how much dialogue there was compared to actual action. That may be just because I’m an action kind of person and I was fighting against a server maintenance timer.

Crafting is done a lot differently in SWTOR than other MMO’s. You have your main crafting (like synthweaving which crafts mods for your armor and light and heavy armor for the force users) and two gathering skills. You have your companions do all of your crafting and gathering for you. You still gather around the planet. Along with that, the gather skills have missions you can send your companions to do to yield more materials. They can be gone from anywhere to 5 minutes to 15 or 20 minutes at a time depending on the mission. Some companions have particular bonuses to certain gathering skills. While you send one companion to gather materials for you, you can another companion actually craft the items for you. This way you can craft, gather, and quest all at once!

Once you hit around level 14-15 (again, depending on your class storyline), you get your own ship. Once you’ve acquired your ship, you can do space missions. Space missions are little quests that you do for extra experience and mods to upgrade your ship. As you slowly upgrade your ship, more difficult space missions open up to you.

I was absolutely blown away by the space missions. The mission environments are absolutely beautiful. If you are the few special, elite people blessed with a 3D monitor, you are completely in for a treat. Space missions are a great way to kill some time or to level up your character in between planets.

Of course, when testing a beta, there are bound to be some bugs and glitches. It is a beta after all. I, personally, ran into very few bugs and glitches. The ones I did see were completely trivial and not game-breaking. There were some graphical glitches and only one quest (ONE) was bugged out if you chose the dark side option. In Black Talon, none of the lips moved on anyone who talked, players or npcs. The beta was very polished aside from the few glitches and bugs that could easily be hotfixed.

Another thing that impressed me was how much detailed work BioWare put into every planet. Dromund Kaas was a dreary little planet where it rained all the time. If you looked up at the sky while it was raining, you could see the individual lightning bolts shoot across the sky and the moving dark grey clouds. Tatooine was a desolate, sweltering hot desert planet. As you walked across the sand, it was almost like you could hear your feet step on the individual sand particles. It looked like BioWare took the Sahara Desert and made Tatooine from it. The desert terrain was not flat but had many sand hills and dunes. The sand even rippled. The planet Alderaan was my favorite. It looked like BioWare hired Bob the Painter from PBS (before he died) to create Alderaan. You could see the tree tops swaying in the wind, the snow falling, and the white fluffy clouds crawling across the sky. The mountain tops in the distance were speckled with snow. When you walked across the snow, you could hear it crunch with each step. BioWare really paid attention to the smallest of environmental details.

There is absolutely NO level grinding as well. As long as you complete all the quests on the planet, even some of the heroic quests (or all), you will reach the level required for the next area (and then some) with no issues.

And last but certainly not least, my favorite questing tool: ALL flight paths are direct! No taking the scenary route and circling twelve times around the flight guy before landing!

I honestly was expecting SWTOR to be like every other MMO out on the market. Same shit, different genre. As soon as I rolled up a character, I was immediately sucked into the main storyline as well as the plights of the people I was doing favors for.
I saw some people in beta complain about how all you do in an MMORPG is go collect quests and do them, rinse and repeat. That is the point of EVERY RPG out there. The Hero goes around town talking to people, gathering information, helping out the townspeople, turning in quests and going to the next town to do the same thing. The only difference between RPGs are the storylines. BioWare has proven time and time again storylines and gameplay are what they do best. It’s actually quite refreshing to see an MMORPG that has an actual story. And the story is different with each class. I found it quite easy to get lost in the story alone and it never felt like I was playing an MMO until I saw another person running past me or was reading general chat.

I have never seen an MMO where they gave you options with your quests instead of just doing them and turning them in. Your actions effects the outcome of the quest. For example, you could be given the choice to kill the target of your quest, kill his family, or leave everyone alone. Your choice is reflected in the outcome of the quest. Another example of your outcomes effecting the quest is choosing whom you turn in the quest to. You could turn your quest in to an evil quest giver or benevolent quest giver. You have so many options when it comes to the quests that the next time you play a character through, your new actions will spice up the game play instead of powerleveling through the same outcomes over and over.

SWTOR is for the true RPGers out there who actually LOVE a great story and purpose to their game.

Personal Blog

Jun. 27th, 2006 | 05:29 pm

LJ is my personal blog as much as a diary would be in my house. Therefore, I have the right to vent or say anything in my personal blog that I want. If I want to vent about someone, dammit, I will do it. End of story. I have always been that way since day one. I should not have to hide or censor anything in my own personal blog so that it does not offend anyone. Hence "personal blog".

So what if I vented? Get over it. It's not like I'm announcing the personal details of the person I'm venting over for everyone to know.

There are only two reasons why I have kept LJ for so long:

#1: It IS my personal diary.

#2: This is the only way my best friend from high school, Colin, knows what is going on in my life because we're both busy. I don't want to have to cut this one off because someone can't understand why I vent in my own personal blog.

Anyways-I'm done with this topic and this situation. I am not going to apologize for using this as my only outlet. This has been blown way out of context and I have done nothing but stress over this all day, which, I obviously don't need right now. People need to stop taking things so personally.

From Now On, ALL Entries Will Be PRIVATE!!!

Jun. 27th, 2006 | 12:58 pm
mood: pissed off pissed off

Apparently I am NOT allowed to vent about anything on my blog that may pertain to certain people whom I might offend. Cause, you know, Goddess forbid I VENT ON MY OWN FUCKING BLOG!!!

I don't know how this certain person found my blog but I will tell them this: I stopped writing certain things on my other blogs because I've already offended you once. And it's pretty bad when someone feels like they have to censor themselves on their own blogs so they don't offend someone again. If you have specifically searched out this blog, then I'm not going to apologize for writing HOW I FEEL in my OWN journal.

As I've told you before, my writing is the way I get things off my chest. I was trying to work things out with you but you searching me out like this just blew it. I don't need this kind of drama right now and I don't want to have to quit writing in my own blogs because I might offend you.

What A Freaking Mess

Jun. 26th, 2006 | 01:11 pm

I've had a shitty week last week. Drama and crap. I found out that I'm pregnant last week (not the shitty part of my week). However, John can't put me on his insurance at work because he waited too long to do so after my insurance had lapsed. He only had a month to do it and he never did so I severely bitched at him. Now I have to go through DES again and hope they give me insurance or else we're fucking screwed.

To top it off, I've been having drama with one of my friends on SG. She's mad at me basically because my world does not revolve around her. I've told her over and over last week that my week was really bad and she never asked me how I was doing, if things were okay, or even what was going on. She just starts in on me about how John and I are ignoring her and her husband. How we never see them without the kids (they have two kids as well), etc, etc. In fact, she wrote me an email saying how she saw us at the mall Friday night and was pissed off because we didn't go visit her at her house! I told her we take the kids to the mall damn near every Friday as a treat. She could have came up to us and said hi but she chose not to and gave me a lame excuse why she didn't. She got pissed because John and I got a sitter so we could go play DnD for the first time in Goddess knows how long and she gets pissed at that. One minute she's saying that it's okay for us to hang out with the kids because she knows how hard it is for us to get a sitter and now she's bitching because we don't ever hang out without the kids. I've offered for her to come over here AND I've even offered to go over to her house and hang out. I don't know what else I can do short of putting my life on hold to satisfy her. I can only imagine what she's going to be like whenever she finds out that I'm pregnant. I'll fucking never hear the end of it!

She doesn't understand that John and I can and do get busy. It's not our fault we have our own things going on in our lives. Her husband works shitty hrs so instead of concentrating on spending time with her husband, she's harping on me. We were supposed to have a girl's night out last week but didn't happen. She cancelled and pushed it to this week.

I just don't know what to do anymore. Trying to keep her friendship has been more work than keeping my marriage together. Fuck-My best friend from high school literally lives around the corner from me and I've never bitched at her for never seeing or talking to her. This has totally stressed me out and I don't want to deal with this crap anymore.

AVON Open House

Jun. 22nd, 2006 | 08:39 pm

I scheduled my first AVON Open House for August 5th. I sent the invites via email today so now I'm just waiting on RSVPs. Hopefully a lot of people show up :) I would hate to invest money in samples and such for everyone to cancel last minute. I've heard from other reps that basically your open house either majorly flops or is a huge success. Nothing inbetween. I am looking forward to it though :)

Classmates.com Saga has ended!!

Jun. 19th, 2006 | 10:40 am

I called my credit card company and told them that I never authorized Classmates.com to charge my credit card for a subscription renewal. They said call Classmates (even gave me their number!) and see if I can get them to fix it. If not, I can call back and get the charges disputed.

I called Classmates.com. They said they had notified me about the charge and that all membership fees are non-refundable. I told them I had never received such an email. They basically said "Sorry. We're not giving you your money back." FYI: When you sign up on Classmates.com, they automatically default your profile to automatic renewal. As far as I'm concerned, NO COMPANY has the right to do that. Back to my credit card company. They are going to dispute the charges. They said Classmates.com might contact me for more information. So now I'm happy :)

No Financial Relief in Sight...

Jun. 18th, 2006 | 09:05 pm

My day started off well. My mom and I got our nails done. We went for coffee. Browsed around the local shopping center. Then I went home and checked my email. Netflix emailed me. My account..had been...put on HOLD??? WTF??? I read the email and they couldn't get their payment to go through on my credit card. So I looked at my credit card statement confused because I had made sure there was enough money on my card to cover Netflix before it was maxed out (I know I'm bad-put I do make my payments on time and more than the minimum ).

Classmates.com had renewed my subscription without even notifying me first. I had to cancel the card on the site and found out that they automatically put automatic renewal on my account even though I never signed up for that. I don't even to automatic payments with bills in case I have to switch things around. I wrote Classmates.com an email telling them that not only did they never even notify me about my subscription ending, but never even told me anything about automatic renewal. I told them I wanted my money back because I never authorized in the first place. I don't even have a confirmation email about the transaction!

Now I'm $40+ short because I had to use the bank card for Netflix and pay the $40 that my card went over. I don't even know if I have enough money to last two weeks because my Avon payment has not gone through yet.

I'm beginning to dread weekends and doing anything because no matter how hard we try to budget, we always get fucked.

Avon is looking up!!

Jun. 17th, 2006 | 10:38 am

I got a new eCustomer from out of state! I was completely shocked to see that! My hits on my website have been slow and mainly family has been ordering from me. This campaign alone, I've picked up 4 new customers!! I'm finally starting to feel like this is going to go somewhere. I know businesses are slow to pick up but they really mean it when it takes off, it really takes off!! Now I'm actually looking forward to taking a year off from school to focus on my Avon business!

I'm just so happy today!

Oklahoma thinks video games and porn are the same

Jun. 13th, 2006 | 10:50 pm

In case you don't have time to read it, I shall summarize:

The governor of Oklahoma passed a bill that makes it illegal for the sale, renting, or displaying of video games that contain "inappropriate violence". The store will be required to keep such games in the back like they would porn. The "Games as Porn" bill IGNORES the ESRB age appropriate ratings and the bill itself makes its own definition of what they consider "inappropriate violence":

"This definition considers inappropriate any game which 'lacks serious literary, scientific, medical, artistic or political value' and which features glamorized or gratuitous violence; uses that violence to shock or stimulate; features violence that is not contextually relevant to the material; has violence so pervasive that it serves as the thread holding the plot of the material together; trivializes the serious nature of realistic violence; does not demonstrate the consequences or effects of realistic violence; uses brutal weapons designed to inflict the maximum amount of pain and damage; endorses or glorifies torture or excessive weaponry, or depicts lead characters who resort to violence freely."

So pretty much any game that isn't made by LeapFrog.

Luckily, the bill doesn't go into affect until November 1st so that gives ESA (Entertainment Software Association) time to get their lawsuit in order. And yes-ESA will be suing ;)

I was in the NWN forums lurking about seeing if there was any new info about NWN2. I saw two posts that really pissed me off <-----Mob pissed LOL

#1: People who are soooo anti-Drow. Drow is an excellent race to play for their really good melee. In fact, Drow is my favored elven race but I probably won't be playing it because when it comes down to it, those same anti-Drow people will be playing them anyway. The most annoying reason that people can't stand Drow is because of their haughty attitude. Well, you know what? Sun elves are far WORSE than Drow and you don't see anyone with anti-Sun elf issues. The second annoying reason that people hate Drow is because of their evil alignment. You got evil in every race, baby, fucking DEAL WITH IT! Just because you play a Drow does NOT mean you have to be of an evil alignment. Look at Drizzt Do' Urden. He's a non-evil Drow. And Jarlaxle. He may be Drow, but he doesn't carry the same evilness as the other Drow do.

#2: DMs that hate a certain race or class so much that they go out of their way to kill that particular race or class. WTF?? It's called diversity. A campaign with the same races, classes, or alignments even would be BOR-ING. There was one DM that is so anti-monk, he goes out of his way to kill monks because he thinks they are useless. And he swears he's a good DM. Whatever. John's favored class is monk and if it was my character vs. a monk, I would not want to fuck with a monk. When they get passed lvl 10, they are a force to be reckoned with. DMs also must take into account that the majority of classes are usually pretty worthless until lvls 10-12. Like rogues. I love to play as rogues but after they hit lvl 10-11, then that's when the REAL fun begins. I hate it when DMs don't want any evil alignment characters in their group. Again, lack of diversity. I love to play neutral evil-It's the best alignment to play. Shake things up a bit. I told John that I should be a DM and I wouldn't have any race or alignment restrictions. You can play whatever the hell you want as long as you know what you're doing. That's why DnD 3.5 rules provide *gasp* Level Adjustments!

Jun. 2nd, 2006 | 06:07 pm

I have been debating lately whether or not I really want to persue SG. I'm tired of the lack of encouragement from the Hopefuls group and the hypocricy of Missy, and the inability to find another photographer.

Hopefuls Group
It seems like the Hopefuls Group is nothing but one big popularity contest. The more popular you are, the more they encourage you that you're so hot, your set was so awesome, and you must try again! I've seen rejected sets that were blurry, pixalated, the girl did not look good because of make up or lighting, themes were bland, etc and these girls are getting "OMG!!! UR SET TOTALLY ROX!!! WTF??? WHY WAS IT REJECTED??!!! YOU ARE TOTAL SG MATERIAL!!" It seems to me that the less time and work a SG puts into a set, the more likely it is to go up. Just today a girl had another set go up of her against a white tile wall. How is that unique? How is that interesting? How does that show her personality? To me, that's the kind of set that should rejected. I don't want to see a girl against a bland white tile. Yet, had I done that and posted to the Hopefuls Group, I would have been ripped to shreds.

The Hypocricy of Missy
I'm so sick and tired of her posting Trend Reports (what sets are NOT allowed) and then I see 20 sets that go live with those very same themes. What astounds me is bathrooms/bedrooms/kitchens etc have been on the Trend Reports since I've been a member and I STILL see those sets go up! That is discouraging. I've seen completely original AWESOME sets get rejected for whatever unknown reason (most of the time it's been because a crappier version of the same set is about to go live-but that brings me back full circle).

The Inability to Find a Photographer
One of the main reasons why I've been ripped apart on SG is because of the quality of photos. I had tried to explain to people that I don't have any kind of photoshop on my computer so when I resize pics from 2-3MB to less than 100KB, of course photos are going to lose quality. However, I can guarantee that the full size pics do not look like crap. Anyways-Because everyone had told me to find a new photographer because my boyfriend/SO wasn't cutting it (yet other Hopefuls aren't advised against having their SO shoot their sets), a photographer in my area volunteed to shoot a set with me. I saw his portfolio, talked with him a lot, but when the time came to set up a test shoot, I no longer exist. I can understand busy schedules and all but dropping me all of a sudden with no warning kind of pissed me off. The only person I have available to shoot sets is John. So either we learn how to do proper lighting or I just say "Screw it".

Doing a bit of modeling has been fun for me. It has gotten me to be more comfortable with myself and my body. I would like to persue it some more but I'm not sure if SG is the route I truly want to go.

I think I'm alive now...

May. 25th, 2006 | 04:18 pm

What a week! Is it almost over??? I'm looking forward to this weekend.

I started my new classes this week. I'm now taking geology and economics. I hate the first week of class because they pile on work. I have to read 5 chapters total and write 3 essays. I have 1 chapter left and 2 more essays to go! I just hope the next 8 weeks I'm not locked in the computer room all week trying to do homework!

I got an A on my LIT final and an A for the class. I got an A- on my math final and a B- for the class No more math classes ever! Since I got at least a B, I don't have to take proficiency tests throughout my bachelor's curriculum. Bonus.

Nalia was sick early in the week with the same sickness that has been making it's rounds apparently. This morning, Logan threw up in his bed. He seems fine now so I'm just attributing it to an upset stomach.

We also got lovely new neighbors last weekend. The woman is a PYSCHO!!! She has woken me up ALL week screaming at her kids. I've heard her say "If you don't fucking shut up and go back to fucking sleep, I'm going to fucking drug you with fucking sleeping pills," "If you don't fucking shut up, I'm going to fucking give you up for fucking adoption," "You know I was just fucking kidding so stop fucking crying you little shit," and my personal favorite, "I don't fucking care if he fucking punched you and gave you a fucking bloody nose. You probably fucking deserved it. Now go put on some FUCKING UNDERWEAR BECAUSE YOUR SHIT IS HANGING OUT!!!"

I don't make this crap up. In fact, John heard her screaming at the kids last night as he was walking up the stairs. I told John that neither of our kids are going over there to play. She obviously doesn't care about the well being of her own kids so why would she care about someone else's. She's the type of person that thinks kids are an inconvenience to adults and should be screamed at whenever they even breathe. I'm almost tempted to scream at her, "You knew what causes kids so if you didn't want them that damn bad, you could have prevented it!" People like that seriously piss me off.

Lighting Questions for Colin :)

May. 17th, 2006 | 04:19 pm

John and I are thinking of doing an "office" theme for a fun SG photoset (I'm not sure if it would really get accepted but I figured "Why the Hell not?" I've gotten used to rejection anyway ;)

So here are my questions:

There is a window in the computer room and we have a really bright lamp (150 watts Reveal bulb). Would the sun plus the lamp make effecient lighting or would we need extra lighting? Would we use a flash or no flash? The lamp is in a corner away from my desk but the window is closer to my desk if that helps.

My desk is made of glass. It's a blue-tinted glass. What angles or how could we shoot to reduce the glare from the desk?

I have one resizing photo question. The photo sizes come out of the camera between 2000x1000 and 3000x2000 (from 2MB to 3MB). SG wants the final pics to be 650x433 pixels at 72 dpi. I don't have photoshop so how do I resize the pics without losing the photo quality? Is there a free program that I could download to make it easier?

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated (The photographer that originally wanted to shoot me-no pun intended there-has currently put me on the back burner. I *know* John and I could do it ourselves if we're just a little more prepared).

Avon Sales

May. 11th, 2006 | 12:20 pm
mood: determined determined

I put my Avon orders in on Monday. They shipped on Tuesday. I received them on Wednesday. That was pretty fucking quick if you ask me. I was only expecting 5 boxes but ended up with 7 because some of the backordered stuff came in.

This morning I went through all of my receipts and invoices and made up an Excel spreadsheet that keeps track of my sales, how much I owed Avon, my profits, and sales to date. Then I made a chart because I was that damn bored and playing around with Excel lol.

So it pretty much boils down to this:

I have been selling Avon since January (Campaign 2). I've worked 8 campaigns so far-each campaign lasting 2 weeks. My sales to date is $2155.95 That's how much merchandise I've bought either for myself or sold. I have made almost $500 in profits and have only lost $166 in profits (due to the fact I've ordered more demos than I had profits). I'm not ordering demos for the next 2 or 3 campaigns because there isn't anything that I'm interested in so I'm expecting my profits to actually go up.

I also have a lot of overstock (products I have in my inventory that I haven't sold yet). I went through and made up an inventory last night. I figured that I have over $300 worth of products sitting underneath my desk. My mom is going to help me set up a table in her front yard on Sunday to sell off the products. We could totally use the extra money right now since it would be pure profit. I'm hoping to snare some extra customers too. I'm really excited about it so I hope it doesn't turn into a bust.

I just got the promo pic from http://metalevolution.net:

They want 10 more pics and then my set will go up in about a week. They've already put my promo pic on all of their stuff. They are also on myspace:

I'm now debating whether or not if I really want to do SG. The photographer that was going to do a test shoot with me has severely pushed me back until LP gets here. I am already to go for another shoot. I am just lacking a photographer. John is afraid to do it again because people trashed his photography on my Crow Set. I'm beginning to wonder what act of God(dess) it would take to get on that site. I'm thinking that if this photographer takes too long, we'll do the photoset ourselves again-just make sure we have uber duper lighting this time. I know we could totally do the set in our bedroom if we moved the bed out lol.

I think he's lying

May. 8th, 2006 | 12:49 pm
mood: numb numb

Last night John and I had Rose and Gabe over for dinner. As always, Rose was talking about couples they've met. We got onto the subject of one couple that we've all met. John gets on SLS (Swing Lifestyle) to check out this one couple to make sure we're all talking about the same people and Gabe mentioned something about us having a free account because we couldn't find certain profiles. John said "No, we have a paid account." I'm like "What?" The last time I checked, we've never renewed our subscription because of the current status of our marriage. I, for some stupid, seem to think working out our problems is more important than fucking other people. Why on earth would I want to renew the subscription? John swears I was sitting his lap while he did this. And he said that he renewed it about a month ago. I know for a FACT that I was NOT there when he renewed, nor do he ever tell me that he renewed it.

It wouldn't surprise me if he is lying even though he says he isn't. I seriously don't believe him because I would remember something like that.
